History

Reach Out Yoga (ROY) was founded as an all volunteer organization in July 2007 to bring the transformative power of yoga to at-risk youth, adults struggling with addiction, and low-income and homeless people in Benton County and surrounding communities.

Reach Out Yoga has now expanded to include over 20 trained volunteers offering over five classes a week. We teach in treatment facilities, homeless shelters, detention centers, and special needs classrooms.  We open local studios for free classes geared toward Reach Out Yoga populations.  We currently reach about 2200 people each year.

Who We Serve

ROY has offered a consistent, weekly class at Milestones Recovery House and Jackson Street Youth Shelter for over 3 years, becoming part of the culture of healing and growth at both places.  We teach very young people at the Old Mill Center and Teens in free open community classes.

The Reach Out Yoga Board frequently hears from volunteers that their service to ROY brings rich meaning to their lives.  Service is a transformative process, that enriches the life of the volunteer as much as the life of the recipient.
